the gaps with NO MORE THAN 4 WORDS AND/OR NUMBERS from the text.Catherine Toms has taught both online and offline digital marketing courses in Australia and the UK for the past 16 years. She believes that, while online courses can be fantastic in terms of convenience and flexibility, for her onsite learning wins hands down. As a teacher, Toms believes in-person learning allows one to get a hands-on learning experience. “We can draw on more creative resources – Lego, Post-its, Sharpies – to be certain that complex concepts are truly understood. We can dive in together and learn our way around the platforms and tools and if you get stuck on the tech you have the support of someone there, right next to you, to help you out.” Indeed, having people around you going on the same learning journey makes you feel enthusiastic.“People want to do their own thing,” says Amy Porterfield, “they want to get out of the nine-to-five, change things up, and work for themselves online. All of us have expertise, knowledge, and skills. More and more people are realising, ‘wait a second, I’ve got something that I can translate into teaching, I could teach this to somebody else.’ All you need is a smartphone in order to record your lessons and publish them online. The technology to host your course – a platform like Kajabi – makes it incredibly simple. So, the technology for actually consuming the content and for creating the content has become so much more accessible that there doesn’t seem to be such a barrier like there used to be.”And with the next generation being raised entirely alongside smartphones, the phenomenon will carry on. “The generation that’s coming out of high school now, technology is in their blood,” says Porterfield. “Youngsters learn everything new online. For them, there is nothing to it while opening up a textbook is now troublesome. It’s not foreign to them, so you’re going to see the rise of digital learning even more so.”
