Emperor Alexander I as the Institute for the Corps of Engineers of Means
of Communication in 1809. The organiser and the first Blank 3 Вопрос 3Rector of the
Institute was an outstanding civil engineer, Augustin de Betancourt. For over
twenty years, lectures at the Institute were Blank 4 Вопрос 3delivered in French as French
was the language of international relations of that time. Many distinguished
professors, engineers and Blank 5 Вопрос 3scientists lectured at the University. A number of Blank 6 Вопрос 3prominent people graduated from here as well.
