Task 2. Read the text and answer the questions by one of four options. The Eurasian Customs Union (EACU) is a customs union which consists of all member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. The EACU was established in 2010 by Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. In 2015 it was extended to include Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The EACU aims to create a single economic market by removing trade barriers and harmonizing customs procedures between its member states. The Eurasian Customs Union has a common external tariff for goods imported from non-member countries and allows for the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor within its borders. No customs duties are levied on goods travelling within the customs union. The Eurasian Economic Union's rules are based on World Trade Organization rules. And the WTO principles are binding on all members, but the Union is not a collective the WTO member (in contrast to the European Union). One of the consequences of the customs union is that the EAEU negotiates as a single entity in international trade agreements, such as free trade agreements in goods, instead of individual member states negotiating for themselves. The members states can be separate members of WTO.In addition to promoting economic integration, the Eurasian Customs Union also aims to enhance cooperation in areas such as energy, transportation, and agriculture. Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have since joined the Customs Union, expanding its reach and influence in the region.Access of products to the single territory of the Eurasian Economic Union is granted after products have proved to be compliant with requirements of the EACU technical regulation Since 2016 36 technical regulations have been developed and some more are still being developed. There are two types of conformity assessment procedures:1. Certificate of Conformity (CoC)2. Declaration of Conformity (DoC)The list of products which are subject to certification and declaration is provided in the relevant technical regulations. All conformity assessment works can only be done by the local certification bodies accredited in the Eurasian Economic Union member countries by their national accrediting authorities.Since the date of its establishment the Eurasian Customs Union has faced criticism from some countries and organizations for its perceived protectionist policies and close ties to Russia.
