Bernoulli’s Hypothesis (Hypothesis of Flat Cross-Sections) states that
- certain methods of loading and supporting influence on internal force distribution only in a small region of bar structure element; the size of this region is of the order of transversal size of the bar
- cross-sections of a bar flat and perpendicular to its axis before loading remain flat and perpendicular to its axis after loading
- deformations of a structure element are proportional to external loads applied it
- deformations of structure element under the action of several loads equal the sum of deformations from each load separately
